Lance's Story
Lance graduated from McKinney North High School in 2023 and is entering his junior year at Oklahoma State University studying Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
At his time at McKinney North High School, Lance ran all four years for the MNHS cross country team under Coach Jessica Richards and Coach David Drueckhammer. His junior year, he qualified individually for the 5A Regional meet and missed qualifying for state by 3 seconds. The following year he was able to qualify with his team for the 5A Regional meet and individually for the 5A State meet, placing 28th at State in 5A and breaking the MNHS record for the 5k. Later that same school year he broke the MNHS 3200 meter track record by 14 seconds and missed claiming the MNHS 1600 meter track record by 1 second.
Lance was actively being recruited to run collegiately during his final years at North. After talking with several different colleges and even receiving offers from multiple D1 and D2 colleges, he chose to focus solely on his education and attend OSU.
However, he continues to follow his passion for running. While at Oklahoma State University, Lance has found time to join the Oklahoma State Running Club and became one of its original members. This upcoming year will be the club’s third year in being active. Additionally he has run several 5k’s and 10k’s at local races in both DFW and Stillwater, with future plans of marathon training.
Lance is a former attendee of Elevated Running Camps and attended in 2021 and 2022. As a counselor, he hopes to share his passion of running with the campers.
