Zach's Story

Zach Martin is a dedicated cross-country and track runner and aspiring educator who has spent the past eight years pursuing excellence in both academics and athletics. His journey began at McKinney Boyd High School, where he ran cross-country and track all four years under the guidance and wisdom of head cross-country coach Keith Pierce. During his high school career, Zach became a three-time regional qualifier in cross country and earned a place at the Texas State cross country meet in his senior year. On the track, he capped off his senior season by qualifying in the area meet in the 3200-meter run. Now a collegiate athlete at Abilene Christian University (ACU), Zach competes at the NCAA Division 1 level in both cross country and track. So far in his career, Zach has had the opportunity to compete in the Western Athletic Conference Championship twice for cross country, twice as a competitor at the NCAA Division I South Central Region meet, and once for both the indoor and outdoor seasons in the WAC Conference. He is entering his third year as a student athlete at ACU, where he is majoring in secondary education with a concentration in history.

Beyond the track, Zach is working toward a future as a high school educator and coach, fields where he can combine his love for history with his passion for running. He plans to teach high school history and coach cross-country and track, utilizing both the classroom and the course as spaces to challenge, support, and inspire students.
